is 100 yards really the recommended distance for shooting rifle calibers at AR500??

hubby shot his 22-250 at my steel target and blew chunks out of it at 150 yards. I was very disappointed. Can't understand why at 150 yards and nothing happened at 200 yards that day at my house.

Well good golly I must be awful niave, cause that 50 cal only dented it and this just about penetrated it...

I was just dumbfounded. I need to study up some more.

the other thing I can't figure out is why it didn't even dent it at 200 yards in November. O understand the yardage difference, but there wasn't that much difference in velocity.

I've got a couple dimples in my target from 5.56 at about 40 yards.
