    I used to have AT&T DSL for a few years. I know your pain.
    I dont mind the occasional slowness, its the constant disconnects and their crappy modems. I've been thru 3 of them and bought a netgear this time. The netgear isnt supported by AT$T. That was what they said about my problems. I told them to send me a couple free ones and I'd prove it wasnt the modem. Thats when the ran a line test.

    Yeah I averaged about 2 modems a year.

    OOoohhhh, I may be making a drive tomorrow. Found a 6 year old Buick in my price range and it only has 27,000 miles on it. It 3 hours away, but it sounds like it might be worth it.
