Hey guys I have a question, I bought some US dollars today at my bank and among the $20 bills that they gave me one is a old one (not the newer one that have blue ink on it).
Do you know if you can still use those or if some stores may not accept it?

Everyone will accept legal US currency. Doesn't matter how old. Depending on what kind of bill it is, they may accept it happily and then change it for one of their own, because some of the older stuff is worth some money. lol

I got some British Pounds some years ago and my bank in France gave me some old bills that were not used anymore in the UK.
People didn't want it and I had to change it in a bank in the UK. :n00b:

I know the coins are counted by weight so stores are picky on what they take. "paper" bills I am not sure about. I know that the different denominations are different sizes so machines may not be able to properly count the older bills do to size issues? :dunno:

If you are worried, you could go exchange it at a US Bank

it's rare but older bills are still seen in circulation

not sure how they decide when to pull them

when they are damaged/worn to a certain point. then they are pulled from circulation and destroyed. My mom worked at a bank and the counting machines would stop and and sound a buzzer if a bill was "bad" and they would send it for a "replacement bill"

Especially when they are used by foreign banks in foreign countries.

The $8 note is still good right? :D
