    it all has to do with the internal dimensions of a shotgun shell.

    Tapered hauls are narrower at the bottom, the basewad, while straight hauls are a the same internal dimensions at the top and bottom.

    SO, tapered hauls and straight hauls use a different wad. And, they are not interchangeable.

    I shoot Remington Gun Club shells which are tapered hauls.

    Federal, estate, most all others use straight hauls.

    Federal or Remington lately.

    Usually the cheapest that is 7shot or smaller

    if you watch the sales at Dicks sporting goods you can get 12g Remington for 4.98 a box.


    FYI if you buy it by the case at Dicks sporting goods, 10 boxes to a case, they will give you a dollar off a box at the register.
