Was about 60 seconds from taking an ambulance ride again.
Production Boss had his hand on the phone, I had to tell him I was okay enough to not need it.

    I hope you were right.

    Heat.
Same job I was on last time I overheated.
Elevator was down... same as last time. Except the freight elevator was working. Hot and slow though.

I had to change a 10 foot pipe, with electrical fittings on both ends, and 4 wires inside.
About 50 pounds of slag had accumulated on the pipe adding weight.
And the work is done over a railing.

Fight to break the old one loose.
Drag it around several corners and short stairways.
Grab a new pole and attach.
    Connect electrically.
Bend pipe in middle, using shoulder, till it lines up with hole in floor.
    Test using tester.
Grab old pole, put in freight elevator.
While elevator is going to ground, hear an announcement "Box Change Heat is coming up!"
Which is important, because I have stuff to do for that.
    Drag pole to "bad" pile.
Get back on freight, having a hard time breathing.
Take the freight up to my shop to grab tools.
Take stairs down to shut off the Top East Burners..
Stairs down to next floor to tell them burners are off and then grab water.
That's where the boss saw me, bright red and having a hard time catching my breath, with uncontrollable shake in my hands.
Then it was time for the Box Change.

    Dammit act...take care of yourself.

    I try.
But I did yell at the boss.
They can control the speed of the casting line, thus how fast we use metal.
When they have a problem with the torches that cut the slab, the slow the line down so people have time to fix it.
But, they called me to change the temperature pole, knowing the next heat was the box change, yet they sped up.
Giving me less time to get done. Millwrights and Motor Inspectors are on 2 man crews, so one guy might go cool off.
I'm on a 1 man turn. If I cool off, the job stops.
