    Hey Birds and ACT...were you ever at sea on Thanksgiving?? Did they attempt to do a Turkey Dinner even then??

    I imagine the galley on Destroyers and Attack Subs would be small??
    The nice thing about the Navy, your galley goes where you go.
    As long as you're not off an unfriendly coast rigged for Quiet, or at Battlestations, they did as well as they could. Best cook would usually cook those.
    But, where you eat, is small. You have to eat fast, so the next guy can eat. At sea, you eat in 3 or 4 groups. 1st in is the oncoming watchstanders. Then a group or two of people between shifts, then last group is the offcomming watchstanders.
    In port, there is still a duty crew. So, there is still 1/3 of the crew onboard that has to eat. A little better, you can take more time to eat.
    1/3, because you have to stand shutdown watches, and because the sub must be able to set sail at any time, in case of emergency.
