If you are able to retire, you get a reduced flat rate per day. That's why many potential retirees tend to call in sick often...

I accumulate 8 hrs sick time per month and I've been there about 18 years...

That sucks. We get the time paid off at what you were making when you left. If you have a real hardship you can get your vacation time paid out in advance. We take care of our workers here, except for paying them a decent wage to start with

new time January 1, that goes for vacation as well. I can carry 40 hrs from year to year. So I am going to have to take some time off
