when it is 80+ ****ing degrees outside, it is best to NOT turn the ****ing a/c off and NOT turn it back on.

Someone turned it off last night when taking his shower, he neglected to turn it back on. I come home from the casino this afternoon and the house is boiling. I wanna ****ing kill him.

Mine was off for a little over 3 hours last night due to the storms. That was more than enough to make me grouchy. Hopefully your system is in good enough shape to get you comfy in short order.

yeah, I had to laugh at your 3 hours. The last big storm we had we were out about 16 hrs, if I remember right. I do know it was overnight. and it isn't the best of units and I wanna kill

Ouch. That had to suck. The fact that my 84 year old FIL is living with us now makes a power outage a bit more problematic though. We can't go to sleep with him unguarded without lights and other facilities. This development has made our lives a lot more challenging lately.

Why turn it off at all.
It is old and not in need of being treated this way. Set it and leave it alone.

I have a good portable 5500W genny in my shed but it hasn't been started in years. I really need to service it and have it ready.

You will be pushing a 5500 very hard to run your A/C and some lights. Very very hard.
I have a 10 HP 7000 and it is a serious push to run my A/C and the other required appliances.

Also remember the 5500 is most likely peak start up delivery not full load constant.

mine cranks up every Saturday morning for a bit...been very nice to have during the winters
I'm perfectly capable of servicing what I have, It's my own fault if its not ready when I need it. However, I live in Marion County, I find it hard to believe they can't maintain a stable grid here that doesn't fail during every substantial storm. It's becoming annoying.

Oh I know it would only run some bare necessities. It would at least give me some lights and limited use of my well pump. I would have bought a higher capacity unit but I inherited this one. That's why its been in storage. Still my fault for not servicing it though.
