    Thanks, Birds.

Great. I'm already letting class out 30 min early to get to my interview, and now they've got the streets and parking lots blocked off for some damn dedication of something. I'll have to leave even earlier.

It's a bitter leafy green with brightly colored stems.

This is rainbow chard. I think there is regular chard with just green stems also.

I've grown the Rainbow chard, and another variety that had white stems. It's not so bitter when the leaves are small. It's good mixed in with stuff, I've cut it in strips and put it in soups, stir fry, pasta sauce, and Irish Colcannon.
Some of you may have had it and not known it, I think it is in the Power Greens pre-washed salad mix, and some others.

I don't think chard is slimy. Now you are making me try to think of a veggie that would describe my ex! Maybe okra...I don't like it, and it is slimy, and to me...useless and tasteless. LOL.

I don't really have an ex wife. The only time I've had chard was in soup and it was kinda slimy. Okra is definitely slimy in gumbo... Almost snot-like. I prefer to thicken gumbo with a roux. Love fried okra though.
