Chanterelles are up here in the GSF, found a few new patches Sunday.
The small ones that grow out of the ground in July are the Chanterelles, Jack-o Lanterns are larger and always grow on dead trees or logs, you avoid those. What I call Reds and Blues are up as well, they last most of July and are usually gone by seed tick season which starts August first.

I didn't know those were edible...Wife and I ran across some of those at Cliffty Falls State Park a couple weeks ago...
I had that last week. Through the leftover Italian saugages in the spaghetti sauce the next day. They were awesome.
Brilliant! Stealing that.
Edible, tasty and rare.
Growing out of logs means leave them alone.
I caught a few bass today. I think this was only the second time I've gone fishing since I got rid of my bass boat.
It's way better than meatballs. The ones that went in the sauce were cooked on the grill, but they skipped the beer hot tub. They are a lot spicier that way.Brilliant! Stealing that.
That's what I have always been told as well. Growing off of dead wood means they are bad for humans.
Hubby caught five. All but one were caught on the topwater frogs. I didn't go...too hot and I was helping the neighbor.
