I think if I go the smart route () and get a trailer I'd be alright. Roll it in, lay it down, drive away.

If you prop the gate all the weight will be on the sheet metal where it meets the prop. The tail will want to droop a bit when the weight is transferred to the tail gate. With a prop in place the springs will not be holding the weight when it comes off the tail. A large dent may ensue at that point.
