    Yep, when we were kids, there were factories everywhere........Sad...
    Yep, good paying jobs too. They were all union. A buddy worked at IH in Ft.Wayne. Late '78 they went on strike. I can still see him saying "we're gonna show'em who's boss around here. A couple months later he was working a beer truck for $6 an hour.

    Yep, we was making $15-$18 an hour in 79 & 80.....That was damned good money back then.

    The problem with the Body Company was that you had work there for 5-6 years before you worked year round. UPS would order their trucks in blocks. When you ran out of UPS trucks they would lay off 20-30% of their people. You could be off 3-5 months before going back...:noway:

    Just in time "inventory" didn't exist back then.
