    Thanks for the info, act. Just looking into all my options after graduation right now. Navy has a damn sweet deal for pharmacists, but it's apparently quite competitive.

    Yup, certain ratings (jobs) people stay in a long time. If they stay in the Navy, then the Navy doesn't need to replace them.
    Therefore, slow promotions.

    Become a Reactor Operator.
    They bend over backwards trying to get you to reenlist.
    When I was in, training a Reactor Operator cost the Navy $250,000 for 2.5 years of school and 3.5 years fleet.
    So they pay guys to reenlist, saves them money.
