    I'd try squirrel or deer, I just don't want to see it alive before I eat it. Same of course would go for cow, chicken, pig, whatever. In my head i KNOW it was an animal... but I couldn't handle seeing that specific piece of bacon alive first.

    It's like anything else.....the more you do it, the more you get used to it.
    The game you harvest hasn't been pumped full of steroids or god knows what.
    Cows and piggies......well........

    Butchered our own

    When I was growing up, we butchered our own meat.
    We (kids) always had to help.
    My job was to keep the water in a 55 gallon drum hot to scald the hog.
    Then I got to have fun & take a big old knife and start scraping hair off.
    Cows, chickens, tame rabbits, goats, etc.
    I don't think I would trade those memories for anything in the world!
