    Power adder technology has exploded too in that time. Now yo can take smaller cubic inches (relatively speaking) and make super big power fairly easy with your choice of nitrous, blower or turbos. There are guys with twin turbo motors with 400+cubes making mega power. Blower cars often go with a bit more cubes 540 is common and nitrous guy (like me use big cubes) @600 to nasty pro mod stuff in the 1000 cube area. Lots of different ways to get the job done. It just takes money. Lol

    Not to mention you can pick up used engines for $20k. But yes you're right overall. Cubic $...problem with Cubic $ is it tends to push out the lower budget guys. That is part of why NHRA licensed drivers have an average age of 48yo. Hard to bring in new people when the cost is so high
