Let's see going to hit Walmart I need eggs, bread, milk , Chevy crate motor!

I have never seen a stoker Pontiac 350 that would be different and cool.
I did see pictures of an Olds stroker this old dude around Indy put together He had to order rings or something like 10 times before he got the right ones.
If it was a Chevy you guessed it Wal Mart!

Way the hell back in the day we made up our own strokers. 327 small journal cranks in 283 blocks 30+ over. I can not remember where we got the high wrist pin pistons as I was not involved in that part. "Old" guy that was helping us did all of that. I screwed them together. Duntov 50-50 solid lifter cams with 327 fulie heads that we pinned the pressed in rocker studs. Oval stamp rockers (triangle stamp rockers would die a horrible death) pink rods and blue print the oil pump. These things were right at 11.5 to 1 CR. You had an honest 6500 RPM street screamer. You could push them past 6800 and they were still holding the nose up but approaching critical mass on the rod caps. An 8" Harmonic balancer seemed to level them out.
These were basically a DZ 302 in a 2 bolt main block.

Try and find that in the cake isle at Wally.......:p

Same year but lowest performance 350 2 barrel: Poncho 255 hp 355 tq, Chevy 250hp 345 tq.

I was thinking the rotating masses of near the same weight should be close in actual numbers.
Cam profiles/head and manifold design will have some effects.

    Oh, I have driven/rode in a few 455 HO's.......370 my ass.

He already knows that 350 has a good home if he pulls it before spring. :):

    I figured as much.
I have some parts if he wants to go that way.
I would screw the short block together for him.
If he went this way 400 plus is easy peasy if he follows a given recipe. Very streetable and no stall required. A stall is always fun and yes it will get the Poncho/Nova cross breed off the mark quicker. These are cheep. 2500 for about $250 made local. I have one for the 64. It is actually a 2800 but that would be a bit stiff for many folks.

We’ve got a better chance of the Rhinos and Donkeys agreeing on someone that that man making a decision.:):
