So just thinking about this on the long drive home today I realized something. There are people with beliefs that parallel the Nazis pretty well, but those people are not on the right.
    - blaming the woes of society on a given group because of their "original sin", in this case privilege
    - calls for a "white genocide"
    - inability to get traction in certain careers without following a given political dogma (entertainment, Hollywood, traditional journalism)
    - use of violence to erode the political rights of others

We keep several old (50+ yrs) dictionaries around--helps to keep a root on what once was vs what is now advertised as fact:

Fascism: any program for setting up a centralized autocratic national regime with severely nationalistic policies, exercising, regimentation of industry, commerce, and finance, rigid censorship, and forcible suppression of opposition.

    b. any tendency toward or actual exercise of severe autocratic or dictatorial control (as over others within an organization)

My thoughts exactly. I'll just leave this here:

    fas·cism
    ˈfaSHˌizəm/
    noun
noun: fascism; noun: Fascism; plural noun: Fascisms

    Of course after reading this:

      1. Cached
      2. Similar

Generally, the left wing is characterized by an emphasis on "ideas such as freedom, equality, fraternity, rights, progress, reform, and internationalism," while the right wing is characterized by an emphasis on "notions such as authority, hierarchy, order, duty, tradition, reaction and nationalism."

It sounds like the left is all fuzzy puppies and kittens and the right is all about running over puppies and using kittens as batting practice aids!

Pretty sure that the next thing heard after my response to "ouch" in that context would be, "Um.. Bill? The appropriate response is 'oops', not, 'Awww, did da poow widdow snowfwake get her itty bitty feewings huwt again by da bad man wiff da fuzzy face?'... especially when the person saying 'ouch' is male-appearing. And the response should never be followed with uproarious laughter."
