Well, I have seen both British ads and British women. Yes, the ads are unrealistic.

Then again, I have seen a lot of realistic American women. Please don't use them in advertising.

From what do they need protected?

It seems as though the mayor wants to be sure that there is a law or ordinance in place preemptively preventing LGBT discrimination.
I thought we already have anti-discrimination laws like that?
This seems like it should be something proposed by the LGBT community as needed, not "just in case."
Why is the mayor trying to add ordinances without provocation or necessity?
    :dunno:

This is the difference between dealing with an actual problem and having an agenda shoved down our throats and/or up our asses.

    Two possible reasons:

    1. A misguided sense of "social justice"

    2. Pandering to the LGBT and pro-LGBT voting block. The LGBT group itself isn't very large, but their supporters are numerous.

Is disagreeing with someone and holding a different opinion now a hate crime?

Only if the other person is a different race, sexuality, religion, tax bracket or gender.
Other than that feel free to argue with whoever you want.

Does kinda limit your options though...
