    Hint: EVERYBODY ELSE KNEW.
    Heh. Truth.

There is a neuroscientist who was researching physical manifestations of psychopathy in the brain. (Psychopathy and sociopathy are not the same, but overlap enough for the purposes of a funny picture thread).

He had a stack of brain scans of convicts that had been convicted of murder and so forth, and had been interviewed and classed as psychopaths by psychiatrists.

He had another stack of brain scans of people from his family, staff, and colleagues to use as a control group or comparison group. Important to note that he did not know which brain scans in the control group came from which individuals.

The brain scans from the known convicts were indeed physically different: the parts of the brain associated with morality and empathy were atrophied.

While he was looking through the control group, he found one brain scan that he thought had been misfiled, because it showed the physical manifestation of psychopathy. Checking records and so forth he figured out that no, it in fact had come from someone selected for the control group, but he didn’t know who it was.

He decided he had to break protocol and figure out who it was, and was very surprised to find out it was… him.

He was further surprised to find out that absolutely no one else who knew him was surprised.

He wrote a book about this which I haven’t read yet. Just going from the news article quote from him, he apparently always knew he was something of an *******, but he wasn’t aware of how big an *******. Just not a violent *******. He was able to route his proclivities into relatively peaceful and useful pursuits.
