    Also, a small group

Who grew up on Tonga islands, they were in the boarding school apparently due to the British government, against their will.
All where 16-19 while on the island. Things like weaving coconut fronds to make a roof were already known by them, as well as tending bannana trees.

It is not even close to the story or similar in any way.

“The story” is a novel, constructed to an author‘s vision. Events, emotions, actions are scripted. Not real.

The Tonga boys were real life. Actually happened. Group of stranded kids made decisions to work together. So yeah, not the same (but similar enough for Dennying).

Yet Lord of the Flies is trotted out as an example all the time, and the real thing … crickets.

The closest real-life to LOTF are the Bounty mutineers.

I wouldn't step out on my back porch to see fireworks these days. These drone shows, though, that's cool. So much more to be done with those than just "oooh, colors and noise in the sky", which is the equivalent of jangling keys over an infant writ large.
The first July 4 celebration took place in Philadelphia on Independence Day in 1777. The festivities included a 13-gun salute from ships on the Delaware River, a Congressional dinner, and plenty of fireworks.

Sometimes traditions have a value that cannot be replaced. Now getting someone to understand why it is a tradition is more important than setting off a few things that go boom.

Related fact: In 1777 there was no Netflix.
