Whenever a little old lady a church says, "These are the best times of your life" I always work hard to avoid telling them how much their life must suck.

I have to be honest, as far as enjoying my kids and my relationship with my kids, this is the best time of my life.

My kids are 11, 12, 16 and 18. They can carry on conversations that don't involve baby talk. They can help out around the house. They have senses of humor and can actually get mine...even if they don't want to. The older ones are independently mobile, but still choose to spend most of their time with the family. The oldest one wants to pay his own way in most things and has to be talked into letting me help. The youngest one spent the evening with me yesterday trimming trees and dragging the branches to the burn pile...voluntarily. The girls (12 and 16) are creative and fun to be around....and like their Mom, can make some really good food.

...and I haven't had to change a diaper or clean pee or poo off me or anyone else in nearly a decade.
