    The best steaks are cooked by putting them briefly near the heat.

    Much like a Churchill Martini... it just needs to be in proximity of the vermouth.

    Made popular by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who when once asked how much vermouth he would like in his martini, was quoted as replying
    ``I would like to observe the vermouth from across the room while I drink my martini.``

    I've always explained the the proper method of grilling a good steak thusly: you fire up the charcoal (yes, charcoal) as hot as you can possibly get it, put the steak on a platter and walk past the grill slowly. Turn it over, walk back....and serve.

    That sounds like it would work, but I'd worry about walking too close to the grill.
