They do it, because it works.
People complain about their taxes, then ask the government for "free stuff".
Then taxes go up, and they'll complain .

Someone told me they should be taking from the rich.
I told him it's a matter of perspective.
Someone that worked at McDonald's would think HE (the guy I'm talking with) was rich.
If he was okay with taking someone else's money, then don't be surprised when someone says HE'S rich, and take from him.

You can't complain about a publication being one sided, then criticize it when they run an article contrary to their prevailing trend.

After reading the opinion piece, I gotta say, the author has a point.

    https://www.vox.com/first-person/2019/7/1/18744204/guns-gun-control-anarchism

Maybe we need more people like the author, not leftist anarchist, but left leaning gun owners who know the meaning of the 2A.

And I did watch some of Mr. Pool's pontificating - pure gatekeeping. People should have guns, but only the right people. The whole issue of training is a red heering and a way to cast aspersions on leftists. There's no logic in saying that proper training is exclusive to one political ideology. There's the very real danger that following the democrats unrelenting assault on the 2A, we think that the 2A only applies the right. Hogwash. The 2A is for everyone.

Then he calls out "marginalized communities". Well, the right certainly has their own, e.g. Randy Weaver's family, the BLM protesters.

    Bull****.

The author has a few good points. Not everyone on the left are rabid anti-gun zealots. But he also has some bull**** points. And the main thesis, that Leftist gun ownership is about protecting marginalized communities, is complete and utter bull****. More on that later. First some comments on "Mr. Pool's pontificating". Did you even listen to the video while watching? He didn't say only the "right" people should have guns. He started out talking about how the fringes on both sides are escalating violence, which is an important element of his thesis. He wasn't saying only trained people should have guns. He pointed out that "gun" people on both sides tend to be better trained and therefore more constrained in how they handle guns in volatile situations. But his overall thesis, given that the fringes are on the brink, it's not a good idea to encourage far leftists like Antifa to start bringing guns to these rallies! I have to concur with that. People who are willing to throw bricks at people's head because they think they're literally real ass Nazis, shouldn't be encouraged to bring guns to rallies. Now, if he were just saying people on the left should reconsider their rabid anti-gun zealotry, and maybe do some learning about guns and think about arming themselves, generally, I'd have no problem with that.

It is true enough that the right wing has a sizeable monopoly on gun culture. That's because almost no one on the left accepts gun ownership as a moral option. The predominance of "gun" people have a right-wing world view, so naturally that world view is embedded into gun culture. Said a different way, the right has an earned monopoly on gun culture, because they're the ones most accepting of armed citizens, because THEY AREN'T BAT**** CRAZY ANTI-GUN ZEALOTS! But the worst point is the main point, that the left needs to "reclaim" gun culture to protect marginalized communities. Protect? FROM WHAT? HMM? Do we have sundry roving bands of far right armed skinheads invading inner cities to harass poor unarmed people of color? The problem with this thesis is it's based on an imagined foe. These ****ing idiots see Nazis and Fascists all around them, mostly people who are actually just people who disagree with them on politics. The actual number of real ass bona fide right wing Nazis/Fascists, by the accounts of the SPLC, a group which if they're lying would reliably lie in the other direction, is about 10K people nationwide.

Portland is a far left city. All these people protesting are all white ass far left beta *******. They're delusional lunatics. They ain't protecting anyone. They're aggressors. Yes. There are the proud boys which kinda morphed from a joke into what's become a far right org that can be violent themselves. Basically people who like to fight, and go to these rallies hoping to find one. But, the way it's been in all the rallies I've watched, you don't start none, ain' gonna be none. What I'm saying, the marginal community in Portland IS the right-wingers.

Interesting. Trump's job disapproval numbers are right around 52%. Biden's 29 and Sanders' 23 add up to 52.

So, literally, Biden + Sanders = Trump. Ironically, that also will probably work if applied to the 2020 election.

    :)

    .
I wonder if when they make free medical care a "right" if they will expect free legal representation as a "right" next.

That ABC/WA PO poll was a Radom sampling of 1,008 people in a country of 320 million?

When properly done (and I'll concede that is a big question *), statistical sampling can be done on a surprisingly small sample to have fairly high confidence of analysis. That is why they always specify their expected sampling error (+/-3.5%). Manufacturers use this same technique all the time to get an idea of defect rates in their products. They don't have to thoroughly test the majority of their items manufactured to get an idea of defect rates.

    * Any problems are unlikely to be due to the relatively small sample size, but much more likely due to their sample selection criteria, specific survey questions and miscellaneous "adjustments".

These polls don’t mean anything right now. They’re only a snapshot in time.

They’ll change again depending on circumstances.

The racist old white guy is in the lead. Biden is the average democrat. Pretty left. Kinda reasonable on some issues, and unreasonable on others. And, he is also the epitome of Bush's statement of soft racism of low expectations.

    I doubt it would apply.
The health care providers would not be government employees; they would be paid by the government for services rendered. That way, the "filthy rich" doctors could be sued and punished anytime their patients did not have perfect health.
I can imagine questions like, "Just how hard did you try to convince my client to quit smoking? Has there ever been a patient with whom you have spent more time trying to convince them to change their lifestyle?"

Polling does not factor in a human effect it applies a mathematical model on a living being. Math is perfect humans are not polls in the past 5 years have often proven completely off 2016 comes to mind.

The effect of a “Universal” healthcare program will cause many hospitals to close and massive unemployment in the medical field.
Private insurance payment rates are 89% higher than Medicare. Under the best estimates for a “free” system medical professionals would receive 40% less for all procedures this will not be a good thing. This would be at a time when the medical system will be overrun anyone can go to the Doctor for any reason and everything is “free”.
Medical care is a unlimited need with limited resources not everyone will get equality in treatment no matter what you do we will just all get crappy healthcare.

    Taxes for “Free” Health care!

    1. 4% payroll tax for healthcare

    2. 7% payroll tax for employers

    3. 70 % tax rate for income or capital gains over $10 million (making the US the highest taxing in the world and eliminating millionaires)

    4. 77% Death tax

    5. Eliminate healthcare deduction (this effects mainly $60,000 to $200,000 earners hurting the middle class)

    6. Wealth Tax 1% if you have $20 million or more

    7. Bank Tax (will be based on how much the bank is worth)

    8. Self employment tax increase (this will effect small business owners and put some out of business)

So a sane people would look at this plan just based on the taxes and see that it will kill our economy and send us into a spiraling depression, This was before they added a pool of 10 to 20 million Illegal peoples.

Presumably this is in addition to the taxes we already have.
