I think I see what you are saying.
I disagree that there was a consensus among Republicans about Trump. He had a lot of appeal because he was not a DC lifer. He could not be bought and at that time that flew very well. He was a good candidate. Don't be fooled by only remembering what the leftist media said about him. They were the ones making fun of his outsider status and putting words in Republicans mouths and they got it all wrong as usual.
Certainly there were those unhappy with the choice - That has always been true and always will be and really says nothing. It was highly stressed and over-hyped by your favorite propaganda sources.
Yeah, “consensus” is the wrong word. Consensus is more like the Venn diagram of what the group can agree on. There were a lot of loyal Trumpers and a lot of nose holders. But there was not a consensus among Republicans that Trump was a bad choice. The Trumpers were trumpeting their praise. It was more like, “Donald Trump will be the best President ever.” Vs, “Meh. Beats having Hillary run the show. Guess I’ll have to hold my nose.” It’d start a war if I said the nose holders outnumbered the Trumpers.

But, regardless, Kut’s right that there will be a lot of Democrats that will hold their noses and vote for Bernie anyway. In 2016 for Republicans, it was anyone but Hilary. In 2020 for the Democrats, it’s anyone but Trump.

Blue Steel Democrats - An Interesting Read

Here is a rather interesting article from AP.

    https://apnews.com/366d66c437ab486820e30bec549c4c0b

Yes, there are gun owning, 2A supporting democrats. It's true.

Here is a quote from one lady who owns in California, "
“You’re alienating a huge part of your constituency,” Smith says of the Democratic field’s gun proposals. “You have a huge constituency that is looking for something different and when you are talking about restricting a right which is so different than everything else you talk about, you are being anti-liberal.”" She is a lawyer so it seems she sees gun rights fitting in with all other rights.

This is the comment I liked the most, "
Kat Ellsworth, from Chicago, was firmly against firearms and favored gun-control until just a few years ago, when she went with a friend to a gun range and discovered a love for guns and shooting."

That's right, she was the enemy until she wasn't. This is why I see being friendly with gun control folks because their minds can be changed. If all our side does is dig in its heels and have nothing to do with gun control folks then there will be less people like her to support our side.

About 20% of gun owners are liberal, about 12 million people per the article. If just 10% decide not to support a gun control nutjob candidate that is 1.2 million votes they will lose. They may not vote for Trump but not voting democrat could all that is needed in critical swing states.

Bernie is not antigun. He isn't friendly, and he doesn't see a need for "assault" weapons, but you don't hear him going after guns much. Health care is his thing. Bloomberg is fanatical. A Bloomberg primary victory could easily turn down many democratic voters.

I like this article covering some of the numbers. It is good to know the statistics.

    Regards,

    Doug

Is Zimmerman coming up with this stuff himself, or are there an army of lawyers trying to figure out how o get rich off his stupidity?
There is a lawyer that will sue for most anything.

You'll have a hard time selling me on racism, white supremacy, and plain old "gun violence" though.

It's really a rock and a hard place - nominate an unelectable socialist, or steal the nomination from him and completely alienate his supporters.

I'm not sure even "stealing" the election from Bernie would make his supporters stay home. It would depend on how Bernie took the whole situation. If one recalls Bernie wanted to use the superdelegates to take Clinton's place, and she had reached the delegate threshold. It would be kinda hypocritical of him to complain if he didn't meet the threshold, and the superdelegates picked someone use who had less delegates than he did.... but hypocrisy and politicians go hand in hand.
