    Wellthats a positive.

This rifle needs to be re-finished. The wood is good but his idot brother had it for a while and left it out in the barn.....:dunno:

    Savable.

Going to professionally reblue or try home rust blue? I'm learning the latter and using my work experience to improve and speed up the process. I'm running a work test and home test together.

I got the rust blue idea from Walt O. and some other work I've seen.

Thanks LE. It was made in 1977.

The friend I got the Winnie from also had a Marlin 25N that he threw in on the deal. Looking that rifle up it seems to be fairly accurate. This one is in like new condition. It was his dads. So I have what might be a decent lollipop slayer if I get the right optic. Rifle has a very narrow set of rails for ring mounting. This will be fun.

I run something like this on my Marlin with the 3/8" dovetail: https://www.opticsplanet.com/weaver-see-thru-13-in-dovetail-riflescope-mounting-rings.html

Two places I work have those machines, one is powerful enough to cut stuff up. I was impressed watching it work.

One place has a machine that cuts metal with water and something that looks like sand. I was told it's garnet. Nice guys that they are, they cut out the brass butt plate for my carbine, all I had to do was some bending and grinding to finish it.
