I have a friend who retired his ******* for a colostomy bag because he waited too long.

    Don't wait.

I know. Docs don't help though. I eat 6 meals a day because I get shaky and nauseous if I don't eat about every 2 - 3 hours. Asked the doc how I go a day+ without eating and he basically shrugged it off. "but you an still have clear liquids, juice and broth". Well, that **** ain't gonna fly sparky...

WT - Can I make a suggestion? Too bad, I will anyway.

Take a look at Integrated Care through an MD. With my wive's health struggles, her endo and neuro doctors suggested Integrated Care. IC did dozens and dozens of specific tests that have revealed some issues that "traditional" medicine didn't uncover in six months of hospitalizations and testing.

It is shocking how much traditional medicine doesn't look at. Food tolerances (not just allergies), stress levels, expanded hormone levels, vitamin levels and use efficiency, etc. etc.

Has not solved her main health issue but has definitely made some improvements in her general well being.

If I don't go broke with her issues**, I will definitely go through the testing panels they do. It is very insightful. Not just the handful of test your GP or most specialist will run.

    ** - OK - maybe I have bought a gun or two I don't really need...

Doing prep today for that procedure tomorrow "men of a certain age" are supposed to have done. :fogey: I want nothing more right now than a bacon double cheeseburger.

I have had 2 of those as well. All part of the Cancer screen's they do when you go into remission. Well, 1 before and 1 after. They want to do one every year. I said nope. I will let you know. 16 years in remission. On a "You have 3 years to live" program.
I never did follow instructions very well.

Let's just say he is significantly younger than you. :D
I have always tried to complete every task in a expeditious manner, rather it is work responsibilities, personal projects or range work. I like to start - work - finish. Sometimes reality gets in the way, especially for home projects. One of the greatest things my wife every did was hire someone to mow the lawn...man, is it nice to come home and see the lawn mowed and move on to something else. We hire out more small little repairs than ever. Used to be if something small broke (say the dryer), I HAD to fix it myself. Now I am content to pay someone and focus on my paid work.
Our range is closed this week....so unless I go to Hillside, I will need to live vicariously though INGO...

    1. I so identify with your, "I HAD to fix it myself," approach: that was me in my younger days.
    2. I remember working on the old house for a month in the heat of August with someone I hired to help who I used to work for in the summers in his painting business when younger.
    3. While doing a dozen projects all at once we had a simple leak spring up from an ancient water shut-off valve in the ground by the meter which we could have easily fixed but would have delayed the entire 1/2 day's work so I picked up the phone and $350 later a real plumber had it done in 20 minutes. It was a turning point in my life.
    4. Then there was the time I needed a simple faucet replaced in my bathroom. I called up and was given a $200 labor charge. I just went to Lowes and got a Delta faucet and did it myself, but it took me 3 times longer than the plumber would have taken, but $200 for a 20 minute job even for a professional? :ugh:
    5. Then there was the time fairly recently when I had a house full of people with a toilet leak, and I had to leave the house for responsibilities a Church on a Sunday morning.
    6. Plumber wanted to charge me $450 to take out 2 floor bolts and a supply line to put in new seal in the floor: I threw him out. Again: 20 minutes work.
    7. I'm not opposed to paying a fair wage for work:
    a. I paid for drywall work in my garage before I sold the house which took 1.5 hours (too busy to do it myself)
    b. I paid $350 to have my garage rewired and some corrective work done on a wire going into the house (was glad it only cost me that much!)
    c. I paid for a man to put in a taller toilet in my new house (getting too old and too busy for such easy manual labor :dunno:).
    d. I paid an electrician in my new house $1000 to do a list of putting in switches and lights and some corrective wiring here and there.
    e. I paid the same electrician $1000 for baseboard heating for the old house (on inspection list) and was thrilled it didn't cost $2k - $3K (had another bid for $2500)
    8. But: $200 labor for a simple bathroom faucet??!!!!:wallbash:

I have been absolutely terrible about letting life get in the way of things like this that are important. I just had a glowing annual check-up a couple weeks ago that I'm quite thankful for because I was about 11 years late in getting it done... kind convinced myself I didn't need to take it seriously because I still run/workout 4x a week and feel good, don't take anything for any problems. This time I was fine, but it's been really foolish of me to roll the dice for so long.

    1. During a routine X-ray session the Dr. found a "baby" cancerous tumor on a kidney.
    2. If they had not of found it early, and by accident, it would have grown and "complicated" my life, perhaps immeasurably.
    3. As it is, 3 little incisions later and snip, snip: it is a distant memory and a 2-3 week distraction.
    4. Don't put off those medical procedures when you start aging: early detection!

    1. Your story gave me a bit of a fright.
    2. I had more than one friend who was in remission and stopped going to the Dr. and have the cancer come back and take them out in weeks.
    3. They had refused much follow-up care b/c they were done with it.
    4. Would it have done any good to have been more pro-active? It perhaps only delayed the inevitable.

Glad you are still here with us. Seen it take too many good people from this earth.

Lost my Dad and the wife lost her Mom, both to cancer, both good caring people. Cancer is a b***h to deal with from every angle. My dad was 6'4" 240lbs in his prime, watched him wittle to 130lbs at the end. I get a knot in my throat just thinking about those times. Don't wish them on my worst enemy.

I just had that done last Thursday.
Oof. Just started the hardcore part about 45 minutes ago. If anyone needs me, I'll be in my office.

Oh, meant to tell you congrats on your RAMI BD, I approve of that purchase!! Love mine, and it's a sweet little shooter with the CGW Ultra-Lite Kit installed. Have you had a chance to give yours a workout yet?

Interesting that these are indeed unicorns just like the PCR, but darned if I didn't just see another RAMI BD pop up on Arm$li$t this afternoon.
