I sense there is some battle worn shenanigans going on? I've been considering something like that on one of my many upcoming Cerakote projects.

The problem arose from the different thicknesses of colors. The top coat was thick and the undercoat was relatively thin. When removing the top coat is was way too easy to go right through the undercoat to bare metal. That equals fail. :(

Unless that's what your goal was and you were gonna spray Cerakote clear over top sealing it all up.

No, I hadn't planned on getting down to bare metal. It wouldn't be the end of the world as you and I both have examples that have some bare metal showing and they do fine. Just have to make sure they get wiped down once in a while.

A couple of years back, I did a 'battle worn' finish on an AR. I used just regular tan spray paint and then scuffed it up a bit. It's my WOT tribute rifle and I'm happy with how it turned out. I really need to take a picture or two of it one of these days. I tend to not photograph my long guns as much as I do the handguns.

We all know bare metal is sexy. That would be kinda missing the point of the Cerakote though...

Morning, Tim. I would love to see a picture. I love gun porn. ;)

Also, I am following your thread on the other site about the DW Heritage. I am curious what people will have to say.
