And very cool to me, besides coming with the holster, I also got the original sales receipt and warranty card! Was bought on layaway at a PX by an Indy resident in Feb 1969.

    That $1500 in today's dollars.

A new Colt King Cobra (I know not an exact duplicate) is under $1000. 3" Cobra $750ish.

I'm sitting here thinking that I always thought the Diamondback was the poor mans Python... Interesting stuff, Thank you
I had a short stint with Colt revolvers (I am a SW pre-lock fan) and preferred the King Cobra ignition system over the Pythons.

I believe that new Pythons etc. utilize the King Cobra internals. Could be wrong. I have been before. Recently even...

A new blue Python may still end up in back in the safe but mcapo's gun fund is being redirected for the moment.

When you both agree on a price and settle on a day and time to pay and pick up you stick to the agreement. You don’t sell it to someone else just because they are there with cash in hand. Pick up the phone and call to confirm that you are still buying.

King Cobra is a smaller frame similar to a Ruger SP101 size. The Trooper is a large frame as is the Python although neither is as big as an Anaconda

I don't know. "We" speak in clear terms like model numbers and frame sizes over here at S&W.

My recollection is that the Trooper feels like a (time equivalent models) K-38 Combat Master which is a M-14; though more common as shorter barrelled M-15 and sporting a K-frame. Although, I believe the Troopers frame size falls between a N-frame and a L-frame which might be closer to a 586 and not the K frame. Smaller than a Highway Patrolman aka 28 but larger than a 19 or maybe not.

See how S&W makes it so much simpler?
