    In the country, hopefully.
That's a good question. My gastrolith comes from a 'dig' of the Morrison Formation in upper Colorado.
Paleontologist have been finding small piles of these stones from the beginning of excavations (serious in the 1800's when big money was offered for just about everything).
Neat little piles in the middle of a plant -eating dinosaur skeleton, that rarely match any other geology in the immediate area. Sherlock Holmes ! :D

Today, among living animals, stones/small pebbles like this are common among ground birds (chickens), and some species of crocs, lizards.
    That’s a great, logical explanation!

P.S., DM. That's a big rock. Do you live at Stonehenge ?
Haha no, but I do have a funny story, being a ditch digger. One day I brought home another rock and my wife just gave me this look and said “stop bringing home rocks!”.
So I’ve throttled it back a bit.

    Here’s a poor picture taken just now…IMG_8523.jpeg
This gives some perspective of the size and a bit of the collection.

Explain that you are building her a fabulous rock garden that she will love when it's finished.

I'm thinking @mcapo should step up and become the R&D department since @T-DOGG is now out being Easy Rider

    Thinking either this

Or this should be the first in depth review

I couldn’t ever match the great one on depth of reviews but I can try to match him in skinflintness. (Is that a word?)
