This will sound like I'm on repeat, but there's a chasm on the Dem side that mirrors the one on the GOP side. Different fault lines, though.

But unfortunately, when they don't, it is less about the daylight between them and leadership on issues like mandating proper medical care for attempted abortions born alive and more about how they were elected in a district that voted for Trump in the general and they need to look like they care

On a serious note, this erosion of protections and power for the minority party by Congress needs to end. The end of the Republic will come from this and Congress pushing more power towards the President. Eventually one party will just take over.

House Democrats explode in recriminations as liberals lash out at moderates

Part of the problem is this block voting that pelosi loves so much where 'The Party' has an opinion and the little congress-droids are supposed to vote that way no matter what.

The original system is based on the premise that congress people get elected and forget their party and vote the way they believe is the best for America.

The way it is now, the congress-droids don't need a brain, all they need is a butt to sit in a chair at voting time when they are told how to vote by 'The Party'.

That's already happened, law/lobby firms around dc make the important decisions guided by big money. It really isn't concerned about things like abortion, social or gender issues. About as close as it gets to that touchy-feely stuff would be the health care or education industrial complex. Big money wants Uncle Sam back at that world bar buying drinks for everybody. We call it the swamp, but it's really about who gets the cash now and controlling that for the future.

...and more than likely it will be left-leaning.

It’s possible it’s the party of AOC. But it won’t be popular. I think there is a reasonable chance that things will reset. Polls show that most people aren’t buying the postmodern bull****. At least for awhile.

The number of young people with a favorable view of marxism is alarming. Hard to tell which way things will go. Right now it looks like there’s few paths where enlightenment principles survive long term. But it’s clear that they don’t survive long in the party of AOC.

It's difficult for people of my generation to understand the appeal of socialism. I remember November 9 1989 when the wall came down thinking that finally we were finally getting rid of it. Marx and company would go back to the history books where they belonged in the first place. When you look at the history of socialism and it's standouts like Stalin, Pol Pot, and even modern examples like Maduro, it's always about power.

Then we got busy being prosperous and all, meanwhile ideologues filled positions of influence and now here we are.

THAT was a hilarious and awesome rant.

I’d have been satisfied if she stopped at “green new deal is what you put in your pipe and smoked...”, but it just kept flowing. Hilarious and on point.
