As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over. I am not looking for an....

....alternative venue for the SOTU Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber. I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!

Well played Pelosi, well played. I wonder what part of the WH Trump is destroying right not, knowing she won this exchange?

He had to keep the legislature informed, and it was the days before modern communications.

So give the SOTU from the WH.

I don't need to see, or care, people applauding, standing, or scowling.
Yeah. Probably Fox would carry it. Networks reluctantly agreed to carry his last address. This is where we are in American politics.

The history and tradition? When was Trump ever interested in that? The history and tradition are part of the swamp (or so I was led to believe).

There was history and tradition to certain other events associated with POTUS that Trump doesn't give 2 ****s about.

But, I seriously doubt he's the kind of guy to do a written submission, unless it was on twitter. (Plus, in this day and age, TV gets more eyeballs still.)

The Senate chamber is cozier, for one. As a "man of the people" he could do it from a rally somewhere.

Pelosi is denying him the most common venue for it. She's not canceling it.

And, Kut, I think this is a terrible play by her. There's literally nothing to gain from it, other than just tweaking Trump's nose a bit.

This childishness is getting out of hand.

I was hoping he would just do it from the Oval Office. Start a new tradition. As previously stated, we don't need to see the idiots sitting there clapping or scowling or shouting out stupid :poop:

Trump postponing the speech is him being the bigger man. Dems are starting to come out in support of the wall and are quickly losing patience with Pelosi. This will end up another victory for Trump and he will get the funding for the wall. Im guessing within the next week or two.

He feeds off the audience. I think he's at his worst (speaking-wise) when he's behind a desk at the Oval Office. His style lends itself more to being upright, and ideally not even constrained to a podium. Some of his best moments (IMHO) rhetorically were in the debates that kinda let him move around.

He could really feed the populist thing by having the SOTU in an arena in the DC area. Oh, or even better, a hangar in a military base with Congress invited (have empty chairs for the ones who don't show) and the gallery full of active duty service members. That could be a PR win.

Madison Square Garden. Trump VS ... EVERYONE. Student section, Congress section, Media section, Social media section, Black section, Native american section, former RINO section (with empty honorary chairs for McCain and Romney), Illegal alien section, LGBTWHOKNOWS section, Hawaian Fed judges section, etc ...

The other 90% seating would be for Trump supporters (deplorables).

    Would be epic

    hahaha

Not totally on board with your section descriptions, but yeah. :) If you thought the applause-interruptions were bad with a SOTU in the Capitol Building, MSG would be crazy.

It would lend it a Happy Gilmore kinda feel. :D

Trump always wins, this will be another. Not that the TDS crowd will give it to him.

Why would we listen to them anyway? The more the TDS crowd talks the less we believe any words coming from them. :twocents:

RFPA in Indiana caused plenty of major corporations to threaten to pull out of Indiana.

How many corporations are passively staying in New York now that their law allows the murder of full-term babies? I am sick of it. The level of moral outrage from such drastically different consequences to laws is sickening.

I will do my best to not step foot in New York while this laws in effect.

Just heard about this on the AM radio. I believe they said it had only passed the NY Senate, (not the house or governor) so not law yet. It also contains a repeal of prior law that protected babies that lived after an attempted abortion; so they'll now be able to murder a live baby even once it's out of the womb. Crazy ****.

Oh, and after it passed, all present gave it a standing ovation! because, you know ...... women's rights.

I've not heard of this law... is there a link somewhere? How is full term abortion not infanticide? I mean, if there were a way to determine that the infant was going to grow up to be a socialist, maybe I could see it.
