Yep the nickel is strip mined from Canada, then put on a fuel burning barge and shipped to Norway to become batteries, then shipped on another barge to China where all the caustic/toxic chemicals and plating happens as they have no EPA, then it's thrown on another barge which belches soot and smoke all the way back to the U.S. All so people can feel good about driving their eco friendly and cruelty free vegan car... that will run on electricity made from burning coal for a few years until the batteries crap out and are thrown in a landfill. Then the process repeats.

Electric motors have more torque than their fossil fuel counterparts. This is why the new hotness is combining electric motors with gas. The electric gives the low end grunt and then the high revving gas engine takes over.
