I am going to practice growing and processing stevia this summer. I am just wondering if you make a syrup out of it and then spread it thin in a dehydrator if it will become a usable
    powder when scarped off.
Can't find any info on making a powder. But will give it a shot.

We have tried to grow stevia a few times, all failed. If you get it to actually grow let us know how. What medium you use,ph,water ect...

It is tough to get going for sure.

Sugar beets on the other hand are very easy.We have an heirloom variety that grows anywhere and has done well the last 2 years.

Sugar beets are easy to get sugar out of as well.
Cut them up.Boil them.Strain the water through cheese cloth into a new pot.Boil off the water slowly and you are left with sugar crystals.Use an old salt grinder.Instant table sugar.

Even if not strictly necessary for nutrition and calories, nice to have no matter what, and you can always trade it.
