    Wow, did not know that.

I knew he was "from Indiana"... So I did what most people would think to do: I went to Wikipedia...

    Gatling is a good suggestion.

Since Eugene Stoner was born in Gosport, Indiana, the AR16/M16 is another potential candidate with a state connection.

    I learned something today!

It seems that there are two VERY strong candidates, then.

I'd still vote for Gatling because his was the first "machine gun". And iterations of such are still in use today. Compared to a Gatling-esque firearm, Stoner's design is still a teenager. ;)

I'd go with either the remington 870 or the mossberg 500. I think one of those two is easily the most widely used in this state. Seeing as how we can't deer hunt with rifles

I'd say the m16 would be the best choice, seeing as how widely known/used it has become...it has seen combat in as many places as the 1911 ;-)

I have a feeling that most people regardless of state are going to want the 1911, its an American classic that has carried us through wars. I bet if you ask most people even those abroad what a cowboy gun is they are going to say a six gun (revolver). If you ask which handgun is American they are going to say the 1911, they may not know the name but they will know what it looks like.

Scattergun. With all the hunting done in the early years of the State, and still by some of us, I think a shotgun would work.
    Now the sticky part...what kind?

Come on, people. Go with the Gatling Gun.

It's ours and we should take it with pride.

Besides, there are some pretty cool electrically-powered Gatling Guns these days...

    OK...

Since we have a consensus, what do I win for the suggestion?

And only ONE of you folks had the decency to rep me for bringing it up. Cheap-skates! :xmad: :D:D
