Same reason some dudes paint their guns with camo patterns, or OD green and whatnot.They just like it that way.

If it brings more women to gun ownership I say it's a good thing to have guns in other colors than black.

I'm curious, what is the purpose of the purple tape on the slide?

I believe that is Tori Nonaka (competitive shooter Team Glock) in the purple Glock picture, and I think purple is one of her signature things... Got to change it up some so her Glock doesn't look like everyone else's.
