    I've used the magnetized needle like Jetgirl mentioned with good success.

    A guy I used to have working for me would go to his grandmas, house and have her remove the splinter. Didnt matter to him whether it was the start of the shift, somehwere in the middle or the end, it was off to grandma's house. We even have a health center thats for minor on the job injuries.

    Could go to the junk yard and ask the guys to turn the electromagnetic crane on right above your hand...might want to remove all eletronics and metal objects first though.
