Columbus and Washington were terrorists? I suppose this would be true if you're a Tory. :dunno:

Did one have to align/identify with the Soviet Union to struggle against colonialism? After WWII, the writing was pretty much on the wall.

I guess if we can laud Mandela, we can do the same with Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, Kim Il Sung and Robert Mugabe?

    They were just misunderstood........................

Oh, come on. They were obviously freedom fighters. You can tell by all the freedom that ensued after they came to power.

Serious question. What methods could Mandela have used to end apartheid and not be considered a terrorist?

With all the vitriol for Mandela, I'm sure not seeing it here for those that opposed him.

The Boers aren't being lauded as peacemakers in recent days.

Gandhi. Martin Luther King Jr. Desmond Tutu. AFAIK, none of them called for the use of violence to change the government/society? :dunno:

And with Martin Luther King day coming up, you can rest assured the annual INGO attempt at impugning his character will follow. So apparently King's methods and the things he achieved aren't suitable either.

If our constitution is overturned and tyranny ensues, is violence off the table for those who wish to return to constitutional rule?

    "...the tree of liberty..."

Is it fair to say that you do not agree with the rest of this commonly known phrase?

If it were just tyrants, no one would be saying a peep. (aside from the whole being a communist thing, which in and of itself makes me not give a poop he's gone)

But most of the victims of Umkhonto we Sizwe weren't tyrants. They were generally civilians in the wrong place: e.g. fellow blacks suspected of being "white sympathizers" (not so fun fact - most of the people that got "necklaced" were black), random people caught near bombs, etc.

How many civilians were in the "wrong place" when Tibbets dropped hellfire on their heads?

Is it generally accepted that German civilians bear some responsibilty for the actions of Hitler and their government? Very few if any German citizens actively opposed Hitler's actions. Many turned a blind eye, were complicit or outright supported him. Would Hitler have been capable of murdereing millions of Jews without the support of his people? So don't we therefore put some blame on German civilians? So just how innocent were they should the Jewish people have revolted and committed violence against German civilians?

Should the democrats win back the house and retain the senate next year and Obama, the senate and house manage to pass a complete ban on guns. I'm sure you'll think those that voted for Obama and democrat congressman and senators are innocent.

How do things like apartheid exist without the support of the citizenry?

So are you saying it's OK to set people suspected of being Democrats on fire?
