Sooooo apparently our flag is at half mast at the US Capital.

That should be reserved for the death of a US President, or a national day of mourning like 9/11.

Except that it really isn't. The former speaker of the freaking House dies and we lowered the flags. It's basically a "you should feel bad, someone with a notable name died sometime recently" warning at this point.

    Kill the whites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcOXqFQw2hc

One other thing, the song says kill the Boer, not "the whites," as is often misrepresented on places like say Stormfront. I suggest you look a bit into South African history... specifically on the first and second Boer-Anglo Wars.

Hint: The Anglos were white too, but not mentioned in the song.

    Huh, fun crowd :D

Mandela was not a saint. Perhaps after prison he became the non-violent type, but beforehand, he was planning bombings and going to other countries to obtain arms and cash to supply the "revolution" in his country. He was an admitted democratic socialist. His entire life was like his county: A paradox. I've known a few South Africans, both native and Boer. Neither really cared for him but then again, neither hated him, even the Boer who hated all, well, blacks. They both agreed, however, the country went down the traditional African path of corruption and disarray after the former government collapsed. Is that a justification for anything? No, but just pointing out that Mandela's vision, like a lot of decent ideas, weren't carried out to fruition at the end. Ends = means? Maybe. Then again, a lot of people that I've talked to in the US speak a big game of violence whenever an election doesn't go their way. So I don't judge Mandela but to glorify him is a bit extreme.

Terrorist? (raspberry) Want a REAL terrorist? Any one remember the PLO? The IRA? When they bombed something, it stayed bombed. I mean, they had balls. "Hey, let's board a plane with pistols and hand grenades". THAT means something. Now, they just try to hijack the plane to idiotically crash it into buildings or deal drugs, not land in Uganda and hang out with Amin and make demands. My dad used to tell me about the PLO and the Libyans being an actual threat, where now... naw, terrorists do nothing but get Hellfires shoved up their rears and deal drugs at some mosque playground like a bunch of pedos. "Hey, you kids wanna buy some khat?"

    1983, actually.

Not like anyone has ever called shots in the organization they co-founded from prison. That would be totally unheard of. Right?

100% Right, prison gangs do it all the time.

Here's where he was imprisoned; Robben Island SA public enemy #1

Needless to say, I think the idea of him organizing terrorist activities some 20-something years after his imprisonment fairly remote (not even metioning the time he spent in solitary confinement).

This pretty much explains him. How hard can this be for you to understand?

    Chuck

Apparently quite difficult when one takes things out of context, and have no idea of the history. The fair-skinned guy is Joe Slovo, and he most certainly was a Communist, but he was also the friend of Mandela, and their two organizations worked together in ending Apartheid.

I guess I would be way too optimistic in assuming that people realized, that just prior to the establishment of the the Third Reich, capitalists, unionists, and communists fought side by side against the fascists.

So what exactly was Mandela and the rest of the Anti Apartheid group supposed to do to end it? Beg their tyrannical dictators for first class citizenship and to end government sponsored racism? How many generations must suffer through it before they're allowed to use violence to end it?

For all the talk about tyranny in this country over things absolutely trivial in comparison and the lustful daydreaming about fighting against it with our stashes of weapons and ammo, I'd think more on this site would sympathize with Mandela and his struggle to become free. It astounds me that there wasn't more violence in this country to end slavery and the government institutionalized racism in this country.

Liberals want to ban high caps mags and it's outright tyranny and we should march on Washington with our loaded AR's. You're denied the right to bear arms, vote, forced to sit at the back of the bus, can't share a school, water fountain, restaurant, etc, just shut up and take it.

They want to celebtate Columbus, Washington...many others...what was the term in 1984? Doublethink?

Columbus and Washington were terrorists? I suppose this would be true if you're a Tory. :dunno:

Did one have to align/identify with the Soviet Union to struggle against colonialism? After WWII, the writing was pretty much on the wall.

I guess if we can laud Mandela, we can do the same with Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, Kim Il Sung and Robert Mugabe?
