I don't think so...it was 80 last weekend...I am thinking she was loaded down with eggs and didn't think I was a threat worth fighting.?
Man my memory sucks. Thought it was cold last weekend. Lol.

I don't think I've ever come across a docile rat snake. She does look a little "lumpy", but might just be the way she is laying in your pic. I had no idea when they lay eggs.

This one was hanging around the house last weekend. Moved her to a new location because I didn't want the dogs getting any ideas. She was super chil didn't try to bite me and was happy in her new location.

She was about 4.5'-5' long. I would have let her chill in the yard but wanted to keep her safe from the dogs.
Very interesting pic. That black rat snake has a condition called kinking. It’s like scoliosis in people. Years ago when I bred snakes, I had a couple hatchlings that had like two or three kinks. I’ve never seen a snake with its whole spine affected. It appears to be otherwise very healthy.

Turns out I was wrong about that. Kinking is a real condition that affects some snakes, but Rat snakes often freeze in that position when they think they might be in danger.
