Joseph Kittinger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kittinger was the first man in space and his free fall was intentional. He beats your sr71 rocket jock by several years.

    Houston, we have a problem.

    Bill Weaver was first unintentional.

Kittinger did it intentionally, likely because his cajones were so large on earth that it caused problems walking.

I missed the live jump today. After watching the setup over the last few weeks I was pretty bummed. I just got to watch the jump. What an amazing site.

Can't wait to see the documentary they make for it.

The original space skydiver, Joe Kittinger. 1960

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxfdC7U_mgQ[/ame]

The news has been falsely reporting that Felix was the first to break the sound barrier in freefall. In fact, Joe Kittinger broke the sound barrier during his jump in 1960.

    Another media lie exposed.

For those of you wondering what Felix Baumgartner said before he took his leap. He said this, “I know the whole world is watching now. And I wish the world could see what I can see. Sometimes you have to get up really high to understand how small you really are. I’m going home now.” These words are equal in my opinion to what Neil Armstrong said when he stepped on the moon, amazing accomplishment by man kind supersonic from free fall.....wow.
