They said Felix requested that Kittinger was the only one to be in communication with him during the ascent and jump. He was the older guy running Felix through all of his checks. Pretty cool.

The news has been falsely reporting that Felix was the first to break the sound barrier in freefall. In fact, Joe Kittinger broke the sound barrier during his jump in 1960.

For those of you wondering what Felix Baumgartner said before he took his leap. He said this, “I know the whole world is watching now. And I wish the world could see what I can see. Sometimes you have to get up really high to understand how small you really are. I’m going home now.” These words are equal in my opinion to what Neil Armstrong said when he stepped on the moon, amazing accomplishment by man kind supersonic from free fall.....wow.
