I thought the same thing when I started shooting AR rifles. I also saw the price of the JP buffer and said HECK NO.

Cleaned it and lubed her up with a Teflon based lube. Much better and it does not bother me now.

Did opt for a JP trigger and that was money well spent. Would like to try a Timney drop in next time.

Wolf springs and damage industries sell what they call improved springs. I have one in my m4 stock and they do reduce the spring noise a lot. Only 15$

...if it doesnt work well enough, I can clean it off.

Good luck.;) It's pretty clingy stuff. Nothin a bath in a parts washer, with less than enviro-friendly solvent, won't take off.

Dieco die maker's grease is another one that's good stuff. A little harder to find though.

Tube white lithium grease heavily applied.

I bought the Jp silent captured buffer and love it. But I also have a Jp adjustable gas block and Jp low mass carrier. The captured buffer allows you to further tune things.

Run grease on mine. Works well.

Thought about trying heat shrink tubing or powder coating the spring to see if that would reduce the noise.
