Love my AR. But the "sprooioioioing" of the buffer spring when fired is kinda annoying.

Anyone know of a way to quiet it down?

I can't look it up right now because I'm about to leave work, but I believe someone out there, (JP Enterprises maybe?) Makes a "silent" buffer spring. I thinks its coated with something.

Someone will probably beat me to the details by the time I get home.

EDIT: how much does it annoy you http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.7.2_os.php

They do offer polished springs towards the bottom for a more reasonable cost. Supposed to be quieter

I couldn't be happier with my jp silent captured spring system. I will never run anything else in my Ar's. Completely silent and function flawlessly

Awesome. At $140, Its not quite THAT annoying, but when I get some fun money I'll get one.

You could look into the ground and polished ones at the bottom of the link I posted. They are marketed as smoother and quieter. I don't have one so I can't give you a review. They are $20

Ive been presented with that same predicament before... spend a little and take a chance, or double down and absolutely fix it.

As I said, Its not THAT bad, but not worth throwing away $20 only to turn around and buy the guaranteed fix. My guy says I wouldnt be happy.

I dont notice the dragging noise as much as the vibration. I would expect the polished version to fix the scraping, but not the vibration. I'll hold out for the big fix.

I agree thats the thing i dislike the most of the spring bouncing around in there. My brother in law has one of those captured springs, its pretty nice!

Those JP springs are pretty cool on something like a suppressed 300blk when shooting subs!

What stock are you running? Does that make a difference?
    Standard collapsible stock.

Put a Vortex flash hider on it. You won't hear the sproing over the TIIINGGGGGGGGG!!!!

I wish. This is a post ban Bushmaster. Pinned Flash hider. One day I'll have a freefloat custom flattop upper.

I love the sproing... let's me know if anything sounds 'off' :D
I guess it doesn't bother me... but then again, I always shoot from the hip, or a mirror, annie oakley style ;)
