Just a reminder that my Marion Co. feed is still ticking along nicely and that I keep it online as much as possible (it usually only goes offline when a Windows Update triggers a reboot and I haven't made it back to the office since then). There are players for nearly every mobile platform now, and nearly every major agency can be monitored now thanks to the work of thousands of enthusiasts who donate their time and equipment to maintain love audio feeds through RadioReference.com's servers. It's really great fun (and very exciting) to hit a feed when you hear of breaking news either close to home or far away.

To listen on mobile phone, hit RR Mobile

Very easy to navigate down through the menus to wherever. I bookmarked Marion and Johnson Co on my Pre.

There is legality issues with having a scanner in a vehicle, but nothing against a cell phone. I drove around listening on my scanner before I knew that. :dunno: Not robbing a bank or anything, just often more interesting than regular radio.

Seems like this would be a legal loophole for criminals to listen to the po-po over their cell, when monitoring while committing a crime.

That's funny I have the 5-0 radio app on my iPhone. I always listen to meca1 while on INGO. It's my favorite radio station.

This is a link to my live audio online feed of Marion County's Public Safety (MECA 1) trunked radio system. It normally monitors all Police agencies, and sometimes Fire and EMS, too. It's a complex and notoriously difficult system to scan well, requiring a digital scanner and accurate programming. If you use certain players, including iTunes, you can see the alpha-tags identifying the agencies that are transmitting:

I've quickly learned listening to this extensively as the weeks go by that there's LOTS of illegal guns on the street, carried by lawless individuals. Although the Police can't be all places at all times, their guts and professionalism wading out into this urban war zone every day always amazes me. You'll hear tons of permit checks, calibers, and serial numbers over the air--interesting stuff!

I just found the RadioReference.com pages for Madison and also Henry Counties. Will have both up and running on computer as much as possible. I agree this is better than watching re-runs of COPS.
