The question is, why aren't you reloading?! Look, winter is coming and you won't have very much to do, so why not spend some quality time making your own ammo? You can find the perfect load for your particular gun and make your .45 recoil like it's shooting 9mm, with much improved accuracy.

Odds are, there is someone close to you who would be glad to show you how to start. There are books, manuals, videos, and classes taught by professionals that are available to you.

I'm not sure exactly how long it took, but I had a lazy day at home and produced over 400 rounds that are ready for Friday Night Steel. How much did it cost?

    Brass - Free
600 rounds of 230 grn .45 ACP - $60 (got a great deal on this)
    1 container of Clays - $25 (IIRC)
Large Primers - got in a trade
The joy of shooting your own ammo - PRICELESS!

So, unless someone can correct my calculations, I can possibly load 600 rounds of .45 ACP at $.14, each. What's not to like here?! :dunno: Even if I had to pay for the primers, that is still a significant savings over good store-bought ammo.

I'm reloading 9mm for roughly $6 per 50. I spent roughly $289 on equipment to get started. I spent another $135 on 1,000 primers, 1lb. powder, and 1,000 bullets. When I go to the range it is Christmas time when it comes to brass.

By far one of the best things I've done in a long time. You will shoot a lot more (a good thing) and will learn a lot along the way. Plus a greaet hobby for the winter time and rainy weekends!

All of my Christmas last year was reloading. I built a bench and started to reload in about March. 7 months later and I'm averaging nearly 1K rounds reloaded every month.
