I think there should be an ignore thread feature like the ignore user feature. That way we could just not see all of the status update, rep pyramid, wallet stealing crap.

I've periodically asked for the ability to killfile certain sections of the site so that any threads in those sections don't show up in the unread posts feed and have been told it wasn't possible (ok, many sites do it but I'm not familiar with the software here), and have been told to just read the sections that I'm interested in, or to go through and mark as read various subforums I'm not interested in, but that's very clunky and doesn't really work well at all for smooth reading.

No, it is the Status Update Thread for the people who do not post in the Status Update Thread.

I think this is true. There is almost always one out of control thread where people go to just BS and make jokes. So all of the people who like to make fun of the pdubs in the status update thread get to go and do the same thing but not taint themselves.

My question stemmed from considering the appearance the thread gives INGO. The repercussions have long since happened for the OP. Now it is just piling on and inside jokes it seems. A new post as the trial begins seems like the way to handle this IMO.

Regarding the "you'll need a mod just closing off-topic threads", I think that is a slight exaggeration. Other than "you can own and carry" thread, name another thread that has been so completely derailed and still active?

We have threads closed if they are dupes. Why?
