    1st Ruling for today

Bill Clinton's DOMA unconstitutional. Good riddance.

    http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/12pdf/12-307_g2bh.pdf

What part of Clinton's legacy still stands? Genuinely curious.

It'd be hilarious if the court upholds Prop 8. That should be soon.

Edit on Prop 8: Court implies they lack jurisdiction to consider Prop 8

Roberts: "The Court does not have before it, and the logic of its opinion does not decide, the distinct question whether the States . . . may continue to utilize the traditional definition of marriage."

Lower rulings stand, yeah. It effectively upholds the lower court ruling by not allowing a challenge to it.

States that don't recognize SSM aren't forced to.

This Is a good day for freedom. I'm not gay but I believe some people are truly born that way and its not a choice for everyone. I have always supported equal rights for all people. I don't want sexual behaviors flaunted in public ect, but as far as the same legal rights I support them!
Congratulations to the gays on your new freedoms.

Also: by them saying the people bringing prop 8 to the court had no legal standing the Supreme Court essentially made gay marriage once again legal in California.

This is also a win for all of freedom because it clearly seperates church and state like its supposed to be!

The Supreme Court declares DOMA unconstitutional

Very broadly speaking, this means that federal marriage benefits can now be extended to gay couples who are legally married in their states. The ruling does not, however, establish a constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

On a micro level, the case itself means that Edia Windsor now gets a refund for the $363,053 in estate taxes she paid the IRS after her wife died (because she now qualifies for a federal tax exemption for surviving spouses).

I like this take from my friend Dana Loesch:

"Dems invited big government into marriage with DOMA. This was a loss for big gov, a loss for Dems. Their record on civil rights blows."
