I think we'd all be a lot better benefited by taking our kids and their friends to the range than attempting to counter the anti's message. Some folks you can't reason with, they just won't listen. Do you really want to just win the argument? Or the fight overall?

We already solidly outnumber the anti's. Let's just attempt to keep the numbers going our direction. And yes, that does also involve some politicing to not allow the other side to overrun us artificially.

We do for now. The problem is the liberal education system in our country. Yes, colleges have always been liberal. But in the 60's the collegiate liberals grew out of it, or at least most did, and went on to become todays corporate leaders. Today that doesn't seem to be the case. The sense of entitlement is growing in this country. Self reliance is out the window. People think health care is, or should be a right. The government should provide more. Housing, education, name it. And many are willing to give up freedom in order to have it. "It" being anything from free cell phones, to citizens rights for illegal invaders. It runs the gamut. Idiots like "Occupy Wall Street" are everywhere. Acting like fools wherever they go.

Sooner or later this type of thinking will damage gun rights, simply because the new current crop of liberals will be convinced there are more important things than gun ownership. So if gun rights go away...Oh well. That will be the death of this nation, and I'm afraid we're getting closer to that every year. I pray I'm wrong. But the last 2 election cycles have proven me right. 30 years ago Obama would have never made it on the ballot. Today he gets reelected.

And Republicans are doing exactly jack and squat to combat this. They have nothing to say on such issues except "no". There's no alternate plan, there's no demonstration of how capitalism could work to cure these ills, because Republicans don't believe in capitalism. Instead, they say "OK, we'll give you your handouts as long as our buddies in various industries get theirs".

But hey, at least they support gun rights. :yesway:

What exactly is it you want them to "do", go out and start shooting college professors?
Well if they believed in capitalism rather than using it as a buzzword, they would elucidate its benefits. They would find a stronghold state (Oklahoma, for example) to demonstrate what it can do. They would educate people. And they would show that they take peoples' concerns seriously.

Instead, we have a Republican majority legislature and Republican governor who do stupid **** like pass laws ensuring that people who want to experiment with alternative energy (solar, wind) have to continue to subsidize the traditional power companies. Because that's "capitalism" in their eyes.

And you claim not to be a liberal? You sure as hell could have fooled me. I don't want the government, be they Republican or Democrat, to do a damn thing for me. Except protect me from foreign invaders. I'll do everything else myself if they will stay the hell out of my way. I'm 61 years old and have bought and paid for 3 houses. I'll be retiring in less than 6 months, and could easily live out my life without any S.S., even though I'm entitled to it. I'm entitled to it because I paid into it my entire working life. The government didn't "give me" anything. All the way I never needed the government to do anything for me, or explain or demonstrate anything to me.

You seem to think the government, be they Republican or Democrat, should jump in as soon as some citizen is simply too dumb to figure things out for themselves. The Republicans don't need to "demonstrate capitalism" to you or anyone else. That's for YOU to demonstrate to and for yourself. Capitalism, along with what it can do, and in fact has done throughout the history of this nation, is out there for anyone to see, and or read about. You don't need a Republican demonstration of capitalism to a bunch of idiots who need to have it explained to them, because most wouldn't understand it, or be able to apply it if they did. The government is holding back no one from demonstrating the benefits of capitalism to themselves.

Today everyone wants to blame the government. Some idiot over extends himself by over borrowing on his mortgage, and right away it's the governments fault for "allowing predatory loans". Some nit wit is stupid enough to take out a 300% payday loan, and right away the government should ban the practice. 30 years ago they never could have survived because people were smarter. Every time someone is doing something dumb, or else doesn't possess any financial common sense, right away, the government should jump in, and either protect or else educate. That's nonsense.

This is how we got into this mess. Perhaps you require capitalism to be spelled out for you in order to understand it. I myself would rather practice it. It's worked pretty damn well for me for the last 40 odd years. And I didn't need anyone, let alone a political party, to "explain it" to me. You don't need to have the Republicans "elucidate the benefits" of Capitalism. Solar panels and windmills don't have a thing to do with how successful you become. Capitalism works just as well today as it did a century ago. You need to start practicing it. Or is the government holding you back from doing that as well?

Are you incapable of maintaining a reference to the context of a conversation, or are you being stupid for the sake of being stupid?

In case your senility is setting in, the context (laid out by you, as a matter of fact) is young people and what the Democrats have said government can give them. In case it's also slipped your mind, young people generally don't know anything about how the world works, and you are the one who made the point that the education system is failing them. Yet your position is that Republicans have no responsibility to demonstrate to them that there are other ways to get the things they want. And you sit here moaning and whining about how they're never going to learn. How will they learn if nobody attempts to teach them?

Not really. It's just what happens when you get yet another coffee house political scientist elaborating about how the government isn't doing enough.
You really don't read anyone else's posts, do you? I have never advocated that the government do more. Republicans wanting to sell themselves to voters, sure... they should do more, but that's not the same as saying the government should do more.

And you think the government should teach it to them? Is this because you think they did such a bang up job with public education and health care? Did your parents not like you? The public educational system IS failing. And in spite of that, now you want the government, (Republicans) to try and educate them about the merits of capitalism. I guess too much failure on the part of government isn't enough for you. When I was young, I can assure you it most certainly wasn't the government that taught me, "how the world works". That's what most people call living life. Most can accomplish it without holding hands with the government.

You're kidding me, right? What the hell difference does it make WHY they do it? They shouldn't have to for ANY reason. The Republicans are not going to gain votes by trying to tell young voters what they should already know. If your old enough to know who to vote for, you damn well should be old enough to understand, "how the world works".
