A "traditionalist" who wants a 100% true to issue 1911 would tell you the external extractor is an abomination and should not be considered a true 1911. The truth of the matter is, many 1911 fans and experts have agreed that the external extractor is a superior design to the internal.

It's the EXTRACTOR that is external - not the EJECTOR. The ejector is still internal...

I have yet to have any extraction issues at all with my Smith. In fact NO issues at all with it, it's a great 1911.

That's a good point.

Similar argument to extractor is full length guide rod or not... Both work fine in my experience.
