I used to think I should stick to my guns and vote what I believe. I realized I am a libertarian, but they are just the truest conservatives. That is what the republican party used to be, but when it slid the libertarians snatched up their toys and went home to cry about it. Voting third party is a gift to Obama, go for it if that's what you want. I'll continue to vote for whatever Republican I'm stuck with in November, but actively try to gain votes for the best candidate during primary season. That is the time real change can happen (Richard Mourdock), November is ALWAYS going to be the lesser of two evils.

I think that there's a heck of a lot of folks that feel like you (and I) do.

November is ALWAYS going to be the lesser of two evils.

As long as folks contine to decide their vote based on the lesser of evils instead of their principles, November will indeed always be the lesser of two evils. It is a self fulfilling prophesy.

    Again, no offense.

I have decided I will not vote against my principles this year.

Fear not though. It is highly unlikely that barry will carry Indiana in 2012. The electoral votes of Indiana will likely go to romney... and republicans will conclude that they can continue to run milk toast progressive candidates given the high number of votes for romney.

I understand the argument that refusing to vote for Romney will put the Illegal One back in the White House. But what makes you think Romney will do anything different that the Illegal One? He lies just as the Illegal One lies. He promises conservative but governs progressive, as is the standard RINO pattern since George I.

As long as we continue to put RINOs in office, we will continue to get RINO betrayal of the Constitution. If that is what you want, vote Romney. You just get a slower march to totalitarian socialism. The boot on our necks will be just as painful. Our best hope is to launch a movement to defend the Constitution. The RINOs will not get it done because it will mean the loss of their power, position, wealth and privilege. I will not vote RINO again. I will be part of a new movement to save the Constitution and the nation.

I suggest those who vote RINO consider the same course as I. You are wise, loyal Americans (I mean that). How do you propose saving this nation? Do you really think Romney will do it? Seriously? :dunno: :patriot: :patriot:

    Good plan!

It is the plan progressives long for.

To progressives, it really matters little whether it is Robama or Oromney that is elected as executive this fall. It is only a different rate of speed towards the same goal.

Thank you one and all! I'm actually beginning to look forward to the constant, consistent naysayers on this board!

Always the same posters with the same old tired "Devil's Advocate" tripe.

I bet ya'll would b!tch if you were hung with a new rope ! LOL !!

I see Ryan as a welcomed wind blowing through the DC establishment. I see him as making the Romney ticket much more palatable across the spectrum of probable voters and those hanging at the edges that need to be motivated to get off the couch.

Anyone that is a VP candidate that Noodles and is an avid bow hunter is going to excite a large sect of society.

Did anyone think the "all or nothing" crowd would be happy?:n00b: Now they have another reason to go on being unhappy with nothing.

And all this time I thought Obama was the prime example of an ideologue. Sheeze......
    Yeah, It's no surprise really.

It would've been the same reaction no matter who Romney picked. Take it for what it is and move on I say.

I know my NY is showing, but what exactly does it mean to "Noodle?"

EDIT: Nevermind. Google is my friend.

Noodling is fishing for catfish using only bare hands, practiced primarily in the southern United States. The noodler places his hand inside a discovered catfish hole. Many other names, such as catfisting, grabbling, graveling, hogging, dogging, gurgling, tickling and stumping, are used in different regions for the same activity.

Doesn't sound like fun to me, but whatever floats his little canoe.

So which role of the VP makes you feel this way? Because its my understanding he is next to useless unless something should happen to the president

Former UT Vols coach Johnny Majors, under fire for another less than perfect season on Ole Rocky Top coined the phrase "legions of the miserable". The term was used to describe fans that B&M'd over every loss and couldnt understand why he wasnt beating Bama, winning the SEC, or winning a NC every year.

    Legions of the Miserable...

Whoa! We are getting way too far ahead with evaluating his ability to contribute to the administration after they are elected. VP's are rather impotent in that respect.

His contribution to the ticket and the battle to win is his invaluable contribution.

I ask the naysayers ..... If not Ryan, then who? Bashing a choice is ridiculous unless an alternative is forwarded with a credible argument.

If the genesis of the disdain is the oft repeated "The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling", it's time to shut up. The Paulbots especially, need to give it a rest.

No good choice. Bobby Jindal might have been good. But anyone in congress is risky due to losing seats. And too many are just too junior yet.

But then I am not looking for a messiah to solve my problems. The left has the great lord Obama and the libertarians have Ron Paul as their god-king. No man is going to solve these problems. Instead we need to see Americans grow up, return to worshipping the one true G-D and get their act together. That would solve the problems. But you can not force people to grow up.

Maybe. I could vote for Ryan because he has a consistent record of standing on certain core principles.

I can't vote for Romney because when he was in office he governed as a progressive, not a conservative. He has a record as a RINO. I cannot believe that he will govern the way he is talking now instead of the way he governed when in office.

RINOs lie to get elected and then govern progressive. Romney is clearly a RINO of long standing. Why should I believe that he will now actually govern as a conservative, even though he selected a (apparently) true conservative as VP?

Given the culture in DC, how can anyone govern as a conservative? How do you shut up the Washington Post? Or all of those rich leftwingers who control the social life in DC? Everything is stacked up in DC to make it seem like the popular thing to do is be progressive. The same way the left does in the universities.

There are many people out there that don't believe in god or look to the government to solve their problems. Many just want the government to stop creating problems.

It depends what you study. If you get a Liberal Arts General Studies transfer degree, odds are you'll be awash in leftist ideology. Study Math, science and or engineering disciplines, not so much.

Paul Ryan is a good choice but then there are really no bad choices on the short list.
My concern is the seat that they have to vacate to run for V.P.
