No threat here just a fact if we go on strike you will not have food

That should be a prime opportunity for anyone willing to work delivering me my food. :yesway:

I guess some unions believe that they are exclusively entitled to certain jobs. :dunno:

This "arrangement" you have with the Democratic party couldn't last forever. Someone will bring me my food. :):

you have to think deeper in the supply chain . if we go on strike your president get involved , assignes a committee and get it resolved

Yeah, maybe after a few years when the "committee" is done draining all the money it can out of the government. In the meantime, the free market has already setup a whole new, union free supply chain. At which point the committee just shrugs it's shoulders and says, looks like the problem solved itself and the unions lose out.

    With all due respect, I'd didn't ask about thinking. I asked if it has happened in the past. I will ask you again;
Has a strike ever stopped food from coming to market before?

That's a bit far fetched, don't you think? With all the grocery chains, Walmart, Target, etc. Each with their own delivery network, I seriously doubt that your Union could manage that one.
Somehow, I don't think your and your brothers are quite as high on the list as Air Traffic Controllers.

    So, let's see..

    • Billions in Union political contributions to Dems,
    • Majority of Dems support gun control(Brady campaign, MAIG, etc),
    • Equals: Unions Support Gun Control..

Wait, that means Unions support pro-choice, expanding welfare, over taxation, restrictive EPA regulation, appeasement of hostile Foriegn countries, massive taxpayer funded bailouts of bankrupt Foriegn countries and big banks, etc etc etc

But I guess that doesnt matter to Indiana Members as long as they keep a tight hold on 11% of the States jobs, a strangle hold on 11% of the States Employers, and the folks at the National offices can keep their cushy jobs and homes.

You guys are giving unions more credit than they deserve. Union Employees make up 11 to 12% of the work force. of that 8% are government employees.

I read a study last week that says the income difference between a RTW state V's the opposite the is less than 1200.00 a year.

So, you and all of your Union comrades are willing to let people who depend on you for food starve in order to sate your personal greed? You are willing to use the threat of keeping food off of people's tables in order to secure a raise for yourself?

And this is your best argument in favor of unions?

Well, to be fair, it wouldn't be the first group of socialists who used starvation to get their way.

Ever seen a copy of the UAW Solidarity magazine? Every now and then, I get a copy in the mail for my dad and it looks like something Michael Moore would put out.

The title of a flyer around here read "They're coming for your job, your paycheck, and your retirement!"

It's intended to be inflamatory and appeal to a person's most base survival instincts and emotions.

When people apply even a tiny amount of thought to this bill, they quickly realize it doesn't change much, since most labor laws are federal anyway, and the state can't repeal Wagner or Taft/Hartley or any of the other pro-union legislation that EVERYONE has to abide by.

    Does RTW outlaw unions? No.

Does RTW prevent worker from unionizing? No.

Does RTW lower wages, affect pension, or other benefits? No.

So, what really changes? People are allowed to opt out of the union. What does this mean? The union threat of a strike carries less weight, the more people opt out of the union. So, negotiations are carried out in actual good will instead of under threats.

If the rtw bill passes which it look like it will I'm wondering if anyone will post into the threads when there insurance and pensions are taken away by the companies there working for. This country is big enough for unions and non unions to exist. The pay will go down for employees of both union and non union that is a given. My father in law was already informed there pay will be going down $2 per hour and they will no longer be offered company insurance so he's been looking into private health care which he can't afford. And he is a non union trick driver. I wonder if the national healthcare will come into play next.

That is just gossip. In order for them to change the wage and benefits, they'll have to negotiate a new contract.

How do you know the pay cut is even related to the RTW bill? I took a 5% pay cut 2 years ago due to the downturn in the economy. We lost our 401k match. We as a company had went from as high as 5,000 full time and temp employees down to less than 1,000 full time employees. We are now steadily growning with many more full time and temp employees. We got our 5% back last July and our 401k match back this month. We also got our tuition reimbursement back as well. We are a non union factory.
